Serious prompt. Tl;dr: If I share a link with files through MegaUpload or WeTransfer, or any other site, are there any genuine concerns with me getting ‘busted’ for sharing paid content? I’d genuinely like to understand any associated risks in sharing just so I understand them.

Backstory: So when I was younger, my brother would always download/torrent/root a ton of files and shit on the computer. I don’t really remember the specifics of what happened, but long story short, I think he got ‘busted’ for either hosting torrents or I don’t even know what, and I think we got a C+D letter from… AT&T as our ISP. And I think it pretty much ended there.

So, when using a site like Mega, WeTransfer, or any of the other main sites, what are the inherent risks with sharing that content? Like I’ve seen transfers taken down very quickly from like, Lauren Lush, for instance.

Is that some anon getting “busted” with a more serious fine/infraction/legal thing? Or does the link/file literally just get deactivated; and boom end of story.

Do the files that I purchased carry some unique identifier, so that if I did get caught doing that, they’d be able to identify who I was based on the specific file uploaded?
