You can enjoy being fat but still choose to try to live a longer life by losing weight. A lot of models gain into their mid-30s or later and then manage to be told off by their doctor in a way that frightens them into losing weight.

That's true. In Trysta's case though, given her profession and the body of knowledge that comes with it, it might be less about feeling "frightened" and more just facing reality. A person can either ignore their test results for A1c, renal function, lipid panels, etc., or they can decide to make a change.

And around the time her WLS became public I noticed she was no longer listed as a staffer on the website for her job, so I also wonder -- and this is pure speculation -- if her weight had impacted her career.

The other thing to mention is joint pain. Hefting around 500 lbs has a good chance of wrecking your knees, and WLS is one of the ways to alleviate that. (And as a vet, she must have been on her feet a lot, so would be surprised if this wasn't one of the major factors.)
