Maybe to popularize feedism, to take elements from the BDSM community? There are similar claims about BDSM. That it's abusive, and those in it engage in unfair power dynamics or it is people who enjoy being abused and belittled.

The push came to understand that much of it is a fantasy and roleplaying and how participants work to minimize harm to the other. Maybe try this with feedism, say how many of the participants don't aim to make a partner immobile, or save junk food feed sessions as foreplay and not do so all the time. Or have partners be fat/fit.

I guess too the issue with feedism going mainstream is the views of food and fatness. That if we encourage gluttony, we'll have more and more people getting super fat. To show us the fatties with mobility issues, the fatties who are trapped in their houses. That if we keep eating, that'll be our future someday.

I figured the demonization of feedism is the concern is this and the disgust that we sexualize this scenario I mentioned. This is more or less accurate, though it's worth noting that society's perception of chubby/fat are warped compared to BBW communities.
