This became a huge problem here in the mid 2000s when a group of students took a trip to Toronto. And while talking to a Pakistani person said they went to PACI. Don't remember what happened to the kids, but I remember there was a big push to get everyone in town to stop calling the school PACI.
They didn't even know it was a slur. Were a small town of mostly white people. We didn't even have black students, or even Indigenous students. That Pakistani person was probably the first non-white person they ever met.
