Just follow dude, as long as you're not obviously a minor they'll probably accept the request. Especially if you actively RT Fat/slob artwork.

This is assuming you're not trying to follow their "priv" accounts, which are just places where they vent about their personal feelings and the such to their friends. No sense following those if you're looking for art.
