I have been looking for stories that have ideas of mass popping, where like a ton of people are popping and overall it's just a huge mess with themes that are overall more grim

Closest I’ve seen is B.E.Ubonic Plague or the milk plague (breast expansions). In short there’s a virus causing girls to produce breast milk at an alarming rate, to the point that it’s both replacing much of their bodily fluids and forcing them to expand, in the end they pop spreading the tainted milk around causing over girls to go through the process all over again.
