Any good stories about sudden, rapid, weight gain in a public setting?

Specifically, I'm interested in stories with realistic reactions. I want to see something written by an author with a good grasp on how human beings behave in overwhelming situations and see that applied to a sudden, rapid weight-gain scenario.
