>>111875>>111875>That last sentence seems more than a little alarmist. Sure, porn can be a psychological addiction for some people. But that's true of basically *everything*. You might have this psychological addiction, but for the vast, overwhelming majority of people here, that's just not the case.some points on which sex researchers agree with me:
- Most people who use porn aren't addicted to it.
- how many are addicted is unknown. It's probably a relatively low % - <15%. On the other hand, 30% of Japanese men between 30-40 are kissless virgins. In a country notorious for its porn.
- from some paper. Users who don't report any problems with normal sex report cca 20-45 minutes use per week. Users who do report the same daily are far ,more likely to say they feel porn impacts them negatively (this from a paper I read on it)
Things I figure out are true but are deemed speculative. I visited a sex clinic and the doctor mostly agreed with me, but clinical practice and 'science' are worlds apart.
(because sex researchers are very lazy and this is a completely boring topic. Seriously, worldwide, maybe just 15 people publish papers on this!)
- some heavy users have psychological dependence on it, so they get something like withdrawal symptoms if they don't look (jerking off irrelevant) at porn for more than cca 3 days.
- It's really no big deal. They may get panic attacks and be nervous for 3-4 days even if they normally don't. Bit of xanax clears that up. For me, I only need to take xanax to sleep those 3-4 days.
- rule of thumb is, guys who very rarely or practically never wake up with morning wood likely have a problem.
I did a poll on a porn addiction board and basically everyone reported that they don't have morning wood, or didn't have it while they were addicted.
- the really big deal with porn is that it makes users less social - which means they get more alone, have more time to waste on it, don't seek out relationships. It also dampens the intensity of emotions somewhat, at least for me. I feel way more things if I'm abstaining.
- big problems are related to sex. This is how I found I had a problem. No, it wasn't performance anxiety or whatever. I tried it sober, tried it a bit buzzed. Had great mood at the time, almost the point people thought I was hypomanic. But couldn't keep it up.
Did some googling. It's not supposed to happen that young, healthy guys with no health problem whatsoever do not have morning erections. You may miss them a couple days a week, but I never had them.
Lack of morning erections is either a sign of severe circulatory issues or severe diabetes, or severe depression. None of that applied to me. At the time I woke up with morning wood maybe ..3-4 x a year.
