While I'm not one of the schizos that complain all the time I do agree that this is easily the worst of his comics so far. Since this one is both pages 14-15 it means there are only 2 pages left and even he adds there's no way to save it at this point.

I'll wait until it's finished to give a full review but I really don't understand what was Salt's goal with this one. The initial setup I had in mind was "Brooke devolves further into blob mode while Olivia attempts to get her out of the gutter while getting dragged back instead" seemed interesting enough for me and was pretty easy to execute, instead we got whatever this was. It's just not really good as either a narrative or plain fetish content

The worst part is that Brooke's weight and habits were acknowledged as an actual problem brought in because of her stressful life and the desire to let go, now she's literally the same as she was at the start of the comic but... she has more stamina now? And Olivia, who had a whole comic about losing her weight and becoming a health nut, gained a bunch of weight off-screen but she didn't even care at the end? The resolution for both characters ended up being incredibly disappointing. Even if we ignore the lack of weight gain what was even the point? Either take being fat a bit more seriously and give it actual narrative weight (heh) or just make them gain until they're human blimps, this comic couldn't commit to anything

Skipped straight to one year later, and Olivia is just at her starting weight at Tipping the Scales. I don't know why Salt decided to make it not a single-panel page, but an immediate timeskip. I feel like an intermediary page before this one and the reconciliation could've been a montage of them working out but also pigging the fuck out together. Just feels stagnant - imagine with Brooke getting out of her moody girl rut after their conversation, she ends up getting a promotion and is able to move into them a bigger place with more space to accommodate them taking up more space, where they celebrate by feasting themselves until neither of them can move.
This comic has been very boring.

I think people here are losing sight of why Salt started his whole Feast For the Eyes project to begin with. They're supposed to be an anthology of self-contained, one-off short stories and scenarios, and that's it. Salt said he wanted to use them to "explore a variety of ideas without getting too stuck on particular storylines, and also add some more variety to my content overall." Couple Stuff + Beach Stuff are my overall favorites. While I liked the sizes that Selene grew to in Beach Bod and especially its sequel, one thing I can appreciate the most with any comic is: consistency in format. Some of the 'pages' in Beach Bod: Out of Season were so jank it honestly took me out of it.

For the most part, it's this. Any criticism he's received has mostly been confined to two surveys he's offered within the past year. There was a general feedback survey in September 2025, and one focused on his OCs back in March. I was still subscribed when the general feedback survey dropped, and don't remember many people complaining about the lack of sex as much as anons do here. So take from that what you will.

There is also a spectrum to how much people here enjoy fatties, some people enjoy the realistic soft flabby fat like how salt draws, and some people prefer them to be fat with more abstract and robust volume. Similar to how anime girls don't have realistic boobs.

Actually, since posting this ive been thinking about Breaking the Scales and other Salt sequences since Losing Control, and I do have some thoughts:

I think Losing Control really succeeded because it didnt need to be in color or have complicated shading, giving more time for storyboarding and figuring out cool visuals

Every sequence since then feels like its sort of rushed through that process so it can be out in time and in color, alongside all the other art Salt does in the meanwhile. Amazingly, almost every single sequence feels very sloppily shaded and the plot is almost like its figured out as it goes.

Does anyone else feel that way?

Anyway, we need a "best of" folder for all the actually good art Salt does

Eh, Losing Control DOES HAVE "complicated shading". In fact, you could say he put more effort into it than his other comics which is why he only posted a single page weekly. Newer comics like Breaking the Scales are basically like "colored sketch" quality compared to it, probably so the pages come out faster.

I believe that the problem is that Salt doesn't have a proper manuscript/storyboard before starting to work on the actual pages, which could explain why he always announces extra pages towards the end of each comic. Another issue is that he's way too risk-averse, he sticks to low-stakes plots without meaningful conflicts or character shifts so any interesting setup or theme the comic had at first ends up being executed in an unsatisfying way, leading to a predictable plot that just makes you go "that's it?" by the end. I understand that he's making these as if they were "Slice of Life anime" but he seems to be missing some of the important details such as key story moments, internal struggles, subtle character growth, overarching themes and the like that would make these comics much better

It just focuses on the parts that people actually care for which is sex and girls getting fatter. No complicated story or filler pages. Just sequences and a page or two showing the aftermath.

Olivia is now slightly bigger than how she started in Tipping the Scales, while Brooke continues to be the slow gainer. We'll see if Salt will make this go to Day 1,000 like in how Tipping the Scales ended, or if this is where their gains end. The appeal of having so many OCs is being able to do different things with them. If every character is the exact same cookie-cutter plot/weight/shape/personality, then all that accomplishes is making people unhappy because more OCs means more time between drawings of any given one of them.

If all you want from this comic is "the hot redheaded one gets fatter" then fair enough, but the thing that actually made Olivia and Brooke unique was the role reversal/size contrast from the first comic, Brooke being moody and pretty slobby, and Olivia being smaller and having some level of "fitness".

IMO, Olivia being almost as big as Brooke now makes them both look smaller cause there's no contrast. And it'll be uninteresting if they end the comic just being two happy fat friends.

Steelcook very obviously relies on 3d assets from the CSP store. His comics only look bad because the coloring resembles a 90s X-Men comic: every scene is so uniformly lit (despite the presence of depth and shadow), you end up getting this soap opera effect. Hardly anyone seems to have any bite to their comics anymore, but I largely blame the community who seem to get overly attached to fictional characters and scenarios. If for some godforsaken reason BWS ever did an honest to goodness forced stuffing scenario (not just the usual fluff of not turning down food, but actively having it crammed into them unwillingly) with one of his lesser characters, im certain most of the people on here would have a heart attack or whatever.
