I specifically mentioned his Impishly manga because it's not just '95% fanservice' like Ayano's WG Diary, though. It does have a story and many pages with characters talking. Thing is, it ran for three volumes—each volume is 160-200 pages each, 22 chapters; each chapter being 20ish pages. That means Fusa produced over 500 pages for the entire run. Not short (compared to the one-shots we're accustomed to, at least).

Yes, ‘Special Day’ truly shines for being a labor of love. I’d much rather have artists passionate about their work than doing it for money or clout alone. It was a fun collab and thats what made sure it was finished.

Plus Size is probably the only long comic with a plot that goes beyond girls just wanting to get big. It’s meant to be read episodically but now that we’re on the last chapter it does feel like it’s coming to a point which is more than could be said for most. That’s BlackJack’s specialty which I do appreciate in his many short form comics which only last like 12-40 pages but are short and easy enough to enjoy and digest.

Moving discussions here doesn't really bother much in the way of order because the discussion thread isn't the main reason people come to draw. We could never have another discussions thread again and nothing would honestly change, because most people tend to speak in whatever respective threads they want. Here's what I can glean from the thread and stuff in general.

1) Salt is very popular and one of the biggest artists - when you're at the top you naturally have a lot of haters.

2) People don't like his comics for various reasons - in general they think they are paced strangely or don't have a ton going on. The comics seem to get the most acual hate on the board, people have mixed reactions. The weight aspect is the biggest part - people were bad at beach stuff for having no weight gain, or the most recent comic's cartoony belly hiding. Comics are naturally always going to draw ire though because a comic is much more than a single pinup and as such theres more judgement

3) The size thing where people complain about Salt drawing blobs - people have noticed he's been drawing larger and larger girls and naturally, people tend to enjoy it less or more depending on your taste. What doesn't help is that Salt's OC's are now beyond the mid fat range and most of the girls he draw are quite large (400lbs above), and a fair few are easily in the immobile tier. This is always going to have limited impact because while w lot of people are into this there's equally a set of fans who have various max weights - maybe chubby or maybe like 300lbs or something. They feel that salt is abandoning their tastes.

4) Salt's art is very OC heavy and his commissions are pretty much available only to his highest tiered patrons and a circle of his select friends. His constant drawing of Lucy suggested by Lucyguy is a notable part of this but he also, when not drawing his own OC's, usually draws the same few girls or, if its patreon sketches, other girls OC's. OC content is naturally less popular.

5) If you believe the schizophreniac, Salt is an agent of israel who wants to kill you, spam AI on every board, and kill your children and burn your house down.

I have my issues with Salt but I think he's a fine artist. What strikes me as funny is just the sheer hatedom he developed. There's obviously the schizo who spams his thread, but from that actual haters have shown up. I want to say people hate Salt because be's popular and doesn't draw what they want, and being a large artist he gets scrutinized far more heavily than others.

I think most people will agree that he's one of the best to do it but the major problems that I see consistently are points 2 and 4. For point 2 I think one of the hurdles here is that there is room for criticism but there's a perfect storm of rabid fanboys and haters who are both completely unreasonable, the former thinking all complaints are unsubstantiated nitpicks and Salt has zero flaws and anyone criticizing is a schizo while the latter just has unreasonable hate points like "he drew an anime character instead of an oc", vice versa, and stupid things like that.
